'In this volume, Stephen Dow Beckham brings together for the first time commentary by Native Americans about the events affecting their lives in Oregon. This remarkable collection strives to let Oregon Indians tell their own story and, in so doing, gives fuller voice and greater clarity to Oregon's complex past. The book's seven thematic sections are arranged chronologically and prefaced with introductory essays that provide the context of Indian relations with Euro-Americans and tightening federal policy.
