Association Auguste François

About Association Auguste François

Created in 1990 to make known the consul Auguste François (1857-1935), the Association boasts thirty years of intensive activity.

Publications, conferences, exhibitions (in France, China, Paraguay, Brazil), films, census of photographic and ethnographic collections, films coming essentially from the missions of the consul in Asia (Annam and China) and South America (Paraguay), have contributed to explain the donation that Mrs. Auguste François had made to the national museums: Musée Guimet, Musée de l'Homme, provincial museums.

The association itself has donated documents to the Center of Diplomatic Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to the Departmental Archives of Morbihan, and to the Cinémathèque de France.

It then seemed natural to its members to assign to the 2022 musical instrument restoration campaign of the quai Branly - Jacques Chirac museum, custodian of five hundred objects by Auguste François.
