; 'The present book is a collective effort to understand the importance of the conflict derived from religious pluralism in the state of Chihuahua. Contrary to what one might think, the present presence of a great diversity of churches is not a reflection of tolerance and acceptance of different ways of conceiving the sacred. The evidence, both historical and ethnographic, shows that conflict and violence have been an indisputable part of the constant rearrangement of the churches since the end of the 19th century to the present. In various regions of northern Mexico, stigma and rejection have predominated; the dispute for the parishioners; the struggle for power and the privileges of offering only explanation of the world. But the premise guiding the research that makes up this book is to warn that religious conflict has allowed the diversification of cults; the divisions, the disagreements between different religious leaders that break with orthodoxy can be read as a social drama that is decisive for the growth of the same churches and for that reason, has been fundamental in the new scenario of religious pluralism.'
