  • Résumé :

This report serves as an illustration of the research conducted on the Musée du Quai Branly’s Puebloan collection from New Mexico and Arizona (SW), and the ways in which it was documented in its entirety. It outlines the methods used to document each individual piece in the collection, from tribal origin, use, date and material to individual collection history. It provides an understanding of the ways in which the pieces were collected, by whom, and where, and illustrates the ways in which research can be conducted in the future regarding objects exchanged with the Smithsonian. It also contextualizes the objects by examining collection and research practices effected by the Bureau of American Ethnology. It additionally examines certain pieces from Hopi and Zuni, and well as Ancestral Puebloan ceramics.
