; The thesis is based on the psychoanalytic approach to the mythic body of the different ethnic groups of the north-western area of Mexico, with the purpose of understanding the deep roots and the essence of the production of myths. The first part is an ethno-graphic and ethno-historical review of the studied region which encompasses twelve ethnic groups, in an evolutionary perspective. In the second part, the different myths of each ethnic group, as well as a study of the most significant elements are expounded. A metapsychological review is performed concerning the genesis and the function of the myth, establishing a reference to the psychoanalytical theory, showing that its production has a subconscious origin. At the end, a psychoanalytical study of the mythical body is made, taking as its basis the grouping of the various recurring themes subject to analysis which insist in representing themselves and which allow us to understand in a deeper way, the rituals and social practices of the studied population.
