For the first time, an exhibition presents part of the museum photographic collections.
about the exhibition
Claude-Joseph Le Désiré Charnay, known as Désiré Charnay, was born on 2 may 1828 in Fleurie. After a first founding trip to Mexico, Désiré Charnay ventured into many excursions : Mexico again, then Madagascar (1863), Java and Australia (1878). The Charnay collection at the musée du quai Branly-Jacques Chirac is the greatest collection of the artist to date. With more than 500 negatives of various techniques and one thousand of old prints, the exhibition presents a part of the collection which enables you to appreciate its techniques, its beauty and its originality.
