For thirty years, Houria Aïchi has been revisiting age-old songs of women from the Aurès region of Algeria with her powerful, expressive voice.
In this new programme, Houria Aïchi performs the musical repertoire of the great moments of spiritual life in her native Algeria. The refined instrumentation–voice, percussion, clapping of hands, mandoles and flutes–reveals the beauty and mysticism of these singing traditions.
