About the exhibition "Black Indians from New Orleans"
A seasoned musician and multiinstrumentalist, Bruce Sunpie Barnes has developed his own style, blending blues, zydeco and Afro-Louisianan music with Caribbean and African influenced rhythms and melodies. Deeply involved in the parade culture of New Orleans, he takes his music to the streets. He is the second leader of the North Side Skull and Bone Gang, one of the oldest carnival groups in New Orleans and a member of the Black Men of Labor Social Aid and Pleasure Club.
