The icono-diagnosis is a retrospective diagnosis of a human representation. The aim of this symposium will be to understand how it is possible to make such diagnoses on representations from non-European worlds, based on paintings, sculptures, drawings, engravings, etc.
In what way are these artistic creations a realistic or distorted reflection of anatomical, physiological or pathological realities? How reliable is the method?
Does it follow scientific reality or imaginary extrapolation? Examples from four non-European continents will guide the research community on this journey.
