Tribute to Mount Fuji, spiritual and cultural symbol of Japan.
About the installation
Source of inspiration of the greatest artists of Nippon, this sacred mountain inspired Count Masanao Abe (1891-1966), a meteorologist entranced by the ceaselessly swirling clouds around its summit. The “Abe Laboratory of Clouds and Atmospheric Currents” was founded in 1927. The lab allowed Abe to gather new material over a period of half a century (large-format photographs, experimental films, glass plates, meteorological data) using his own photographic devices, turning this scientific heritage into a remarkable collection of works of art.
